"Thanks to on-demand transport services (DRT and Paratransit), new ways of managing and guaranteeing access to a more inclusive and sustainable mobility can be put in place. Means that allow a gradual transition to low-carbon travel, reduce the impact of the private car, improve access to employment and service areas."

Colbus is the Demand-Responsive Transport service for the Appennino Bolognese region, a rural and mountainous area located on the outskirts of Bologna, Italy. It complements the existing regional transport offer on the firstand last kilometre.

Colbus makes it easier for users to get to the region's main tourist attractions (e.g. hiking trails) from the nearest train stations.

Due to the topographical and geographical characteristics of the served area, booking in advance (before 8:00 p.m. the day before departure) is a condition deemed necessary to guarantee the smooth operation of the service. Indeed, some itineraries can only be used at certain times of the day or the impossibility of turning around prevents the implementation of last minute bookings.

The service is based on a free floating configuration and operates door-to-door on certain itineraries. It is open only on weekends and during school holidays from 8am to 8pm.
